Dr Sabine Prader
Research Topic: The role of fire, climate, and land-use change as drivers of forest-fynbos dynamics in the Western Cape and its implications for Fire Management and Ecosystem Services
Sabine is an experienced palynologist. Her postdoctoral research focus lies on the role of fire, climate, and land-use change as drivers of forest-fynbos dynamics in the Western Cape and its implications for Fire Management and Ecosystem Services. To undertake the research question she is using pollen, non-pollen palynomorphs, charcoal and isotopes from recovered cores sediments.
Before joining the PCU, she was working as a melissopalynologist for QSI, Bremen (Germany).
Sabine received her PhD at the University of Hamburg, Centre of Natural History and Department of Geology. Her research focused on the paleovegetation and climate dynamics in the New Jersey hinterland during deep geological time intervals.
Her Diploma in Biology with specialisation in Botany she attained from the University of Vienna.
